Energy sector times are changing. Laggards beware!

Energy sector is steeped in tradition but times are changing. Laggards beware!

My experience in the energy sector spans the country, covers retail, lines, generation, smart meters and renewables.  Much of my involvement in this sector has involved senior management mentoring, leadership development, strategy development, and troubleshooting.  SOE, private, JV and publicly listed companies have all been part of my client portfolio.   I was a key strategist in the 1998 Mercury Energy power crisis in Auckland, have produced strategic marketing plans for lines companies, strategised and established the roll out plan for structural change within a retailer, critiqued the business model for a metering company, trained key account teams for a retailer, coordinated the launch events of two power stations amongst a myriad of other projects and initiatives.  I understand the industry terminology yet don't get sucked in to believing that the energy sector works in a vacuum.  I have had success in getting upstream and downstream business units to work with each other towards a common goal, quickened route to market, instilled a client facing mentality, dealt with competitor threat, dealt with hostile takeover bids, and assisted senior management to take their myopic glasses off!
